The Weissman Piccolo
Twenty-five years ago, Jeff Weissman set out to build a better piccolo that offered power, projection and ease of articulation without losing the "woody" quality unique to the piccolo.  Early in his quest for the best piccolo, Jeff discovered the world of exotic woods and the amazing variety of tone colors found in woods of different densities.  

Each wood produces a different timbre, and many clients purchase two or three headjoints to customize their sound for different musical situations. The Weissman piccolo is handcrafted from a selection of choice exotic woods that give the performer an exceptionally deep, rich sound with exacting response and wonderful projection.

Every Weissman piccolo comes with a choice of headjoint from an inventory of over one hundred headjoints, each with a distinctive sound and cut. The Weissman piccolo headjoints have earned an unparalleled reputation for rich, dark tone quality. Whether you are looking for more resistance, quicker response, shimmer and sparkle or secure articulation, we have the right headjoint for you.

Jeff customizes each headjoint with one-of-a-kind crowns with abalone or mother-of-pearl insets and choice of weighted crown assembly.


The Weissman/McKenna Piccolo
Jeff Weissman and Chris McKenna have years of experience with flutes and piccolos.  Mr. McKenna is a highly respected artisan who has developed and built fine flutes and piccolos for over 20 years. He is widely considered one of the most talented craftsmen in the industry.  

From their combined knowledge and extensive analysis, Jeff Weissman and Chris McKenna have developed a truly unique design that has raised the standards of piccolo building. Their revolutionary and exclusive process called Organic Fiber Fusion enhances projection while producing a richer, fuller sound. After the fusion process, the wood is naturally aged to ensure that the wood fibers are impervious to the hazards of moisture absorption common to wood instruments.

Weissman/McKenna piccolo headjoints feature individually hand-carved embouchure holes and handcrafted one-of-a-kind crowns with abalone or mother-of-pearl insets. Options include weighted crown assemblies, silver inlays, gold inlays and gold wing lips.
